Not another Google post…

You would think this blog was all about me trashing Google for some of their questionable behaviors, but it’s really not…”just trust me!”

As we move into a world with ubiquitous cloud computing, where your entire digital presence lives everywhere and nowhere, what happens when a company decides it doesn’t like you anymore? It recently happened to Nick Saber, who came back from lunch only to find that he couldn’t access any Google services (with the exception of search) because his account was disabled. When he reported it to Google this is the response he got:

Thank you for your report. We’ve completed our investigation. Because our investigation was inconclusive, we are unable to return your account at this time. At Google we take the privacy and security of our users very seriously. For this reason, we’re unable to reveal any further information about this account.

He was eventually able to get everything restored after several hours of jumping through hoops. Sure there is a bit of back story (his account was previously compromised) but it is a cause of concern as companies like Google are aggregating services at an accelerating rate.
