The future of travel planning…
A few months ago I was lucky enough to help a very promising start-up prepare for the “Idea Idol” competition run by Oxford Entrepreneurs. The company is called Zoombu and it is run by a Oxford DPhil named Alistair Hann. If you have ever tried to plan a vacation in Europe, you will have experienced the problem that Alistair is trying to address. It can take hours trying to sort through the myriad possibilities resulting from multiple modes of transportation (plane, bus, train, taxi, etc.) Zoombu is using some nifty artificial intelligence concepts to make the process a whole lot easier.
Last time we chatted Alistair was working on his Seed Camp application. Believe results came out two days ago…haven’t heard yet if he was one of the short-listed companies.
Regardless of the Seed Camp results he’s onto something interesting…I expect it would make a great bolt-on acquisition for one of the larger players in the space.
